Questions?
Are you wondering what everyone else is thinking? What about the neighbor that you see everyday, but never talk to? Or there might be the checker at the local grocery store...you say hi several times a week but never more than that. Sometimes you nod your head to someone that is a familiar stranger to you...but never stop to chat. You even work with a person day in and day out, but never have more than a casual chat...which leaves you wondering, "I am curious how they do this....?"
I have wondered, just what is it that people are thinking in the current economic downturn. What are changes they are implementing? What are some of the habits these familiar strangers are changing, or starting for the first time ever? Are they staying at home more? Are they going for a bike ride instead of dropping 100 dollars on a round of golf? What are their thoughts as they get up and go to work on Monday morning? Did they reach any goals by Fridays trip home from work?
I will be posting on this blog questions and quizzes that I either come up with on my own, or find some other way. The purpose of this is to get inside the minds of the people, the common people that are affected by the ups and downs of life, how they cope and deal with simple every day things. Do they like yellow mustard or fancy dijon mustard...are they willing to buy cheaper brands or will they spend a little more for what they really want and crave?
So, with that said, my very first questions on this blog will be something that came to mind today as I walked down a wooded path and smelled a very familiar and comforting smell. You ask, "What is it?" It was the smell of a bbq being used, hmmmm....yummy!! My senses began to reel and my appetite grew! Isnt this a smell that stops us? It causes us to say, "Hey, I will go get some brickets and bbq tonight."

The questions
-Will you be using a barbeque more this summer than in the past?
-What are your favorite items to cook on the good ol' grill?
-Who does the grilling in your household?
-Do you have any hints and tricks to getting the "perfect" steak, chicken or anything else you enjoy?
I have one trick that has helped me. I will be making a short video to show all who are interested. Keep posted
Thanks and have fun this summer cooking outdoors and away from the hustle and bustle of the resaurants.

Awesome blog idea!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnswers:
1. Maybe a little less than last summer , but not too much less... we actually grill all year round
2. I don't really grill. :D but Mom and Dad usually do it at dusk/twilight. Like before the sun goes down.
3. Mom mostly. Surprising, no? :)
4. Go to Mexico for a carne asada and ask the people there. They know how to grill better than ANYONE!!!

Hey Delly - welcome to the blogging world...I can already see I will be frequenting your blog. Here are my answers:
ReplyDelete1. We will probably use the grill about the same as last summer, Which is maybe once a week or so.
2. Chicken is my favorite! Or a really well done hot dog:)
3. Justin does the grilling, for sure.
4. Hint for the perfect Italian seasoned bbq chicken is just let Justin do his thing...don't know what he does but it's SO yummy. He made it for me over an open campfire the evening he proposed:) It's good on the grill too though.

Hey Dellas! Your blog is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWe love to barbeque all year round. There is nothing like a juicy piece of grilled meat. So, to answer your questions,
*We will probably use it more this next summer because we got a quaint little set of table and chairs for our little deck. And because we probably will eat out less.
*Our favorite think to grill is steak, of course! But we probably do chicken most often. And, a grilled salmon is always tasty.
*Jon is the master griller, I cannot even compare. I don't even know how to light the briquettes!
*I'm not sure how to get the "perfect" piece of meat - but I know that marinating it in a wonderful mixture of soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, seasonings and olive oil does wonders. And, the more olive oil you use the better!
Thanks, Dellas!

My BBQ trick is:
ReplyDeleteTo get the brothers to do it! :-)
I've never learned how to do it, and it seems they enjoy it, so... why mess with a good thing!
Not the most helpful answer, but there it is.
'Allo?? Waldo isn't wondering anymore??? Waldo is WORKING TOO HARD!! to wonder...
ReplyDeleteI wonder... Where's Waldo's Wonderings...
Hee hee I kill myself (so no one else has to do it).... :-)
howdy howdy, dellas!
ReplyDeletewe grill a lot... so we'll continue to grill a lot. sz does most of the grilling... i'd grill but i don't like sticking the match into the gas and WHATIFITEXPLODES!??!?!! so i just let him get it started and then continue and finish it, as well... then i ask... is the gas shut off? anyway... no secrets, just lots of practice... use a watch to get your times right for temps... and with fish, tinfoil it--leave a little tent on top, experiment with all sorts of diff things inside... a little olive oil to keep it moist if not using other things... and lots of fresh herbs... from your little deck pots... :)
